GREEN FAN WITH GOLD TASSEL

$2,800.00

635 x 510mm

To make this fan I have used feathers from the Wompoo Fruit Dove also known as the Wompoo Pigeon, the largest of the Fruit Doves.

They are native to New Guinea and Eastern Australia and live high up in the rainforest canopy. They’re often very difficult to spot as their colouring blends in beautifully.

The Wompoo is becoming very rare, sadly because of deforestation in the rainforests of Coastal Queensland and New South Wales. Habitat destruction has taken its toll and these magnificent birds are seen less frequently.

The tassel is made from sea weed, collected from the beach at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast.  I added a touch of gold for good measure…
